Random Image Wednesday!-#19

Winter is a great time to be a writer, even more so if you love to read. Stuck inside when the weather is horrible can be both a blessing and a curse to many, but for writers and readers alike, it is a time to dig deep into our favorite pastimes or full-time careers depending on how we look at things.

It never gets snowy in my part of Florida, but the cold weather does sneak in from time to time and for that, I feel invigorated. I enjoy the colder evenings and days because, for me anyway, its a chance to either write or read, to throw the windows open and take in the cooler air, to also sneak out and explore the world around me.

The cold sends everyone hiding in their homes. Nestled in blankets and thick pajamas, most people run for the comfort and warmth of their homes. Me personally, I relish in it and choose to venture outdoors. There something serene and magical about a cold morning or evening, those moments when silence and solitude seem to allow the natural and spiritual world to whisper. It’s as if the world around me has dissolved and no other human muddles up the experience. It can be a time I would consider reconnecting with the world, a chance to clearly think, to stargaze, to enjoy life beyond my introverted self.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you try it. Find a local park, a forested area, a lake, or anywhere most people would venture when it’s sunny and beautiful out. If you are able, venture there during winter, during the day, during the night and stand among the icy trees and surround yourself with the moment. If you’re lucky, if you’re blessed, or if you believe, you just might hear the chilling embrace of winter calling from the other side. You might have a moment of clarity or, at the very least, an excuse to scurry inside with the rest of thin-blooded to partake in warm liquids of a delicious nature.

These posts will be about showcasing a random picture I find in the hopes of inspiring others to create ideas for their writing. Sometimes I provide the picture and randomly prattle on about something I find interesting, sometimes I do more than my fair share.

I have found that generating a quick 1-3 sentence scenario, a blurb, a scene, or a full novel concept based on a random picture has worked wonders in opening up the floodgates to new ideas and enjoyment in the world of fiction. It is my hope that others will find these images and possibly be inspired to jump into the wild world of writing and become the author they always wanted to be.
